With industry support from David Malone from MCN, we worked with Ian Garland at A C Nielsen to establish the first STV People Meter panel and launch it to the market. The panel of 400 homes has since developed and expanded to the current panel to over 1300 homes. This was a defining step forward for the industry and dramatically improved the quality of program schedules across the range of channels. My term at Optus Vision ended when management decided to reduce internal costs and structure outsource the process. Initial ownership of the business by WIN Television and VIC/TAS TV provided me with my earliest opportunity to report to a joint venture Board and this quickly developed my skills beyond advertising sales budget achievement.The business achieved strong revenue returns for the shareholders and within two years the business expanded to include NBN to the portfolio of channels.I was responsible for a staff of 70+. My ten years with the Nine Network impressed on me the importance of strong programme performance, supported with consistent approach to brand promotion to allow the advertising sales process to flourish.
