I fell in love with fashion when I realized it was more than just clothing. It is a way to be creative, to change how you feel or how people perceive you. Ultimately, it helps you find and connect with who you are and then share that amazingness with the world!In my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to have traveled the globe launching brands for amazing companies and celebrities like Versace, Hilfiger, Jennifer Lopez, and Ellen DeGeneres, creating and growing distinctive brands that reflect the personality of the person or label. Nothing excites me more than project management, from beginning to end. Ideation, product development, strategizing, critical thinking, problem-solving, data analysis, then the communication and marketing of those ideas effectively. Teamwork and partnerships with internal departments and factories manufacturing products along the supply chain, make us collectively more successful.However, one day while designing another T-shirt for another collection, I wondered if the only thing I was creating was more landfill. As a designer, I’ve witnessed the perilous acceleration into fast fashion, from collections being designed twice a year, to monthly, and now weekly. There must be a better way. So, I took the opportunity of having downtime during the pandemic to educate myself.I enrolled in classes at Harvard studying Fashion Sustainability, Sustainable Product Design, Circular Economy, Sustainable Supply Chain, Sustainable Marketing, and Sustainable Leadership for the 21st Century, to name a few. I earned graduate certificates in Corporate Sustainability & Innovation and Environmental Policy & International Development within a year. Ultimately, I achieved a Master’s in Sustainability, graduating in May 2022 and received the Dean’s List of Academic Achievement Award with a 3.96 GPA.Now, I want to give back and use my skills, knowledge, and expertise to help brands make better choices, and reduce their impact while maintaining their profit margin. People, Planet, or Profit? It doesn’t have to be either/or. Truly sustainable solutions consider ecosystems, equity, and economy, and can save money, boost finance, and strengthen the bottom line.
