Peter O. Watts graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law, and earned an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Washington. Peter's areas of concentration include land use, municipal and local government law, and elections law. Peter was named judges choice for 2012’s Up & Coming Lawyer of the Year by the Daily Journal of Commerce. He was recognized as one of the Portland Business Journal's Forty Under 40 Business Professionals, in 2010. Additionally, Peter has been recognized as a Rising Star by Oregon Super Lawyers magazine three times. Peter has successfully handled cases in municipal court, circuit court, and at the Oregon court of appeals.A lifelong resident of Clackamas County, Peter served on the Clackamas County Tourism Development Council from 2007 to 2013. He was elected Chair in 2009, 2010, and 2011. He was reappointed to the board on an interim basis in 2014 and a full term in 2015. As chair of the TDC, Peter championed active outdoor recreation tourism, including the first of its kind bike tourism studio program in collaboration with Travel Oregon. He also prioritized agri-tourism, and worked with the county planning department on code changes that allowed farm to table dinners, and agricultural tourism opportunities for family farms. Continuing his service to Clackamas County, Peter served three terms as President of the Clackamas County Business Alliance Board of Directors, and has served as the Chair of the Land Use Committee from 2008-2015. Additionally Peter served on the Metro sponsored Community Investment Initiative from 2011-2013. In his spare time Peter enjoys running and volunteering on political campaigns.
