Evidence Manager
Having previously developed and implemented a new, more robust, adaptive ecological monitoring framework for the Trust’s Nature Reserves (work which was shortlisted for the National Biodiversity Networks Group Award in 2019), I continued to manage the Trusts Evidence Team and oversee its ongoing work and develop new data insights linked to SRWTs Strategy 2030; particularly looking at quantifying how our community engagement leads to people taking ‘action for nature’ and becoming more connected to nature.I built an evidence and data framework to provide insight and report on the Trust’s new strategic indicators. Key to this work was good data governance and democratising data through communication, transparency, and iterative delivery. I fulfilled a key ‘data translator’ role, providing a link between the executive and organisational strategy to the technical staff. I oversaw the product development of SRWT’s Nature Counts species database, and demonstrated good technical skills in the use of QGIS, Arc Online, Looker Studio and Excel. Alongside this evidence work I also advanced the development of a South Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy, through engaging with key stakeholders such as landowners, local authorities and representatives from the DEFRA group, facilitation of strategic meetings, developing business cases and strategy documents, forming governance structures (including setting up a steering group and developing project outputs) and timelines. I also provided technical input into the development of a regional Nature Recovery Network using GIS.
