More specifically, we will investigate whether associations of diet quality and health depend on contextual factors like age, gender and health status. This research will be performed by using data from 167.000 residents of the northern part of the Netherlands, collected in the LifeLines cohort.

Associative priming in food choice: which aspects are associated to food?Only little is known about the influence of sensory and contextual factors on food choice. We therefore investigated the associative relation between these factors and the processing of food stimuli.By using an associative priming paradigm, the effect of masked prime words of different categories on the response to food was examined. The participants (n=25) were asked to decide whether the presented target picture was a food or non-food item, while reaction time and brain activity (EEG) were recorded. Participants were not aware of the prime-word preceding the targetpicture.This research project was part of the master programme Biomedical Sciences.
