I enjoy working in challenging environments and situations where no obvious solution exists. It’s often in these circumstances that we yearn for someone who understands our suffering and who can provide a perspective, along with the skills to re-establish our inner equilibrium so we make more appropriate decisions/responses to our challenges. Over the past 35 years I’ve worked in a gaol (to resolve a crisis), in hospitals, in private practice, in rural and regional communities (especially where suicide and/or mental health issues are rising), companies undergoing major change or dealing with grief or crisis and families and communities during and after natural disasters.FOUNDER & CEO, QUEST FOR LIFE FOUNDATIONAfter a series of personal traumas including my near-death from leukemia and my brother’s suicide, I established the Quest for Life Foundation in 1989, a not for profit organisation which provides residential programs and community based workshops that encourage, educate and empower people with practical tools to create emotional resilience and peace of mind. Currently, the Quest for Life Centre hosts 34, 5-day residential programs and 100 community workshops each year. RESILIENCE TRAINING Reviews and feedback from conference keynotes and other appearances consistently rate my presentations as ‘inspirational’ and/or ‘life-changing’. I have delivered keynote lectures and workshops at hundreds of medical and other conferences in Australia and internationally.MEDIA COMMENTATORI often feature in the media as a specialist in resilience, increasing wellbeing, making meaning of difficult circumstances, dealing with grief, loss, PTSD and trauma, resolving conflict and a host of other human challenges. Since 2000 I've been a regular monthly guest with ABC radio programs, Midweek Conference with Richard Glover & Nightlife with Tony Delroy, then Sarah MacDonald. In 2003, I was celebrated on Channel 9’s, This Is Your Life and I have been featured on Australian Story x 2, Compass, A Current Affair, Midday, The Morning Show, Statewide and other television productions and a documentary in the Visionary Series for Channel 4 (UK) was made about my life in 1992. AUTHOR The author of nine best-selling books including Up Until Now, Quest for Life and Your Life Matters; three children’s books and a recipe book, I have also recorded more than a dozen relaxation and meditation practices which are available on CD or download.
