Researcher for the Blue Economy / Caribbean Project, working in partnership with Future of Fish and World Ocean Council to assess "Blue Economy" potentials and risks and support the development of Blue Economy Action Plans in six Caribbean countries.

• Lead educational programing and presentations for up to 150 passengers at a time, informing guests about the history and local wildlife in Southeast Alaska as the second in command on 78’ catamaran• Accountable for emergency management and passenger control and primary line handler, responsible for assisting deckhands in cases of mechanical failure

Assist in the instruction of an intensive three week summer course through the Duke TIP program. In this role I teach gifted youth about the near shore and ocean environment through lectures, directions, and activities both independently and in coordination with another instructor.

Research assistant in the Z Lab at the University of South Carolina. I work under Dr. Lori Ziolkowski, and work to study the global carbon cycle through multiple different research projects. I have gained experience in many facets from using a gas chromatography mass spectrometer to organizing outreach efforts to promote Dr. Ziolkowski and her research beyond the laboratory.

In this position, I had the opportunity to lead efforts to increase outreach regarding clean water. I became integral to departments beyond just my own by quickly developing an intricate understanding of ArcGis software and then resolving numerous persistent problems for departments throughout the organization, such as recovering valuable maps and data that had previously been lost. I also had the opportunity to speak on behalf of the organization at an NPR event, helped to organize a water policy summit for the state of Missouri, and more than tripled the outreach efforts of the clean water department through effective utilization of social media and marketing strategies. In this position, I was given enormous freedom to determine the needs of our state as well as how to motivate community members to act.
