NYDIS also coordinates risk communication, training and operations support for its members and their partners and is the NYC Faith Sector Lead for NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and NYC Emergency Management. Providing executive leadership over NYDIS' day-to-day operations and program. Currently managing a $40M annual budget funded by philanthropic and non-profit grants as well as city, state and federal contracts. NYDIS staff of 50 full-time and 3 part-time employees - and, is governed by a 13 member volunteer board of directors.NYDIS' programs span the disaster lifecycle from mitigation education and preparedness planning training , to response programs including HOWalert, a city-wide text/voice risk communication platform for NYC religious leaders, and a 300 volunteer disaster chaplain team. NYDIS also currently manages long-term recovery programs for 9/11 and. Hurricane Sandy. Including a 9/11 first responder health programs, a $13M Unmet Needs Fund (NYC Sandy Unmet Needs Roundtable), Volunteer Group Housing Program (Housing Rebuild Volunteers) and a $2M Hurricane Maria Evacuee Services Program. NYDIS also has $25M HUD CDBG Temporary Housing Services contract with NYC Housing Recovery Operation for Sandy impacted homeowners who need to vacate for elevation or rebuild. -
