This position is funded by Faraday Institution’s nationwide NEXGENNA project to support synthesis work of novel sodium-ion battery materials, as well as develop new characterisation techniques to understand cycling mechanisms and structural changes of said materials during charge-discharge.

• Shadowed lab users for two weeks to grasp entire process of making a battery• Conducted COSHH and risks assessment, at the same time contributed to updating SOP• Prepared samples for ex-situ XRD; Collected and employed Rietveld refinement to analyse XRD data• Assembled and tested battery performance of Swagelok cells• Facilitated inventorial duties by keeping eye on chemical stock and informing technician when supply is low

Based in Lam Dong, their Oolong Processing Plant is located up in the mountains near tea plantations.
