Chief Product EngineerDepartment and technical leader for CMEP Product Engineering. CMEP is a Midrange Engine plant, located in Walesboro, Indiana, USA with a capacity to produce ~750 engines/day of B-Series midrange engines primarily for Chrysler. The Product Engineering department consists of engineers and technicians engaged in Plant Support (design and performance), Cost of Coverage, Cost Reduction, Base Tailoring, Performance/Emissions, and Engine/Truck Testing.

Managing the global engineering function for Cummins’ B series engines’ base platform, this includes everything in the engine, except for its fuel system and electronic controls.

Develop and manage the ‘Applied Mechanics’ and EMEA Design Tailoring groups at Darlington. Advisory/mentor role for ‘design and validation’ engineers.Implemented and instituted Applied Mechanics Functional Excellence in Darlington and identified world wide gaps, such as FEAD analysis and testing. Implemented SIMDRIVE in Cummins for analysis of FEAD’s which reduced the amount of testing required on multiple options. Designed and created new vehicle simulation test rigs for FEAD and an Automated coolant system test rig. Implemented LMS and created new test procedures worldwide especially the area of torsional testing.

ASB Technical Project Leader (Agricultural engine platform)Technical cross-functional leadership role for all Cummins Agricultural sales and development. Euro IV Mechanical Development LeaderConstruct, supervise and co-ordinate testing plans to fully validate a new base engine platform in conjunction with US programs using project management tools. Design, Verify, Plan & Report schedules to validate systems and components to BVQI international standards and procedures, using APQP, FMEA, DQR and Six-Sigma tools.

Company Profile: Joint venture between Cummins Engine Co, Fiat-IVECO & Case-New Holland (CNH) to provide a Euro III emissions approved diesel engine for the Automotive, Industrial and Agricultural sectors. Mechanical Validation ManagerElevated to a higher level of responsibility due to team members returning to ‘Parent’ companies. Extra duties now included future project management, project planning, data analysis, test reporting whilst providing the necessary link back to design.Test Site Co-CoordinatorRelocated to the South West of England to join EEA as the Test Site Co-Ordinator working as part of the Mechanical Validation team. This role involved compiling individual component test plans into an engine or rig test plan based on economic constraints & resource loading. Daily tasks included facilitating & supporting the ‘Mechanical Validation Program’ through numerous world-wide testing locations. Responsible for project management reporting against program deliverables. Product changes are closely monitored by good communication between myself, design and purchasing teams in order to provide flexibility to the validation test plan to ‘fully’ validate the engine with design iterations to production launch.

Test Site Co-OrdinatorContracted by IVECO to work for the European Engine Alliance. Increasing projects and responsibility. Validation leader for ‘Closed-Crankcase Ventilation’, ‘Power Cylinder’ and ‘Air Handling’ development.

Working in the Product Management Team. This team was involved with any Manufacturing, Rapid Problem Solving, Cost Saving, Product Resolution, Source Approval and Customer specific redesign of any component or engine system. The job possessed extreme diversity of work from obsolescing unused option part numbers from the corporate database to component redesign projects, which needed extensive engine, field and rig testing.
