i-sieve is a Greek technology company specialising in sentiment analysis. It's a commercial spin off from NCSR Demokritos, the Greek national Centre for Scientific Research, specifically the Software Knowledge and Engineering lab which does things like natural language processing, information extraction etc. My role is to represent i-sieve in various projects, to generally broaden the company's reach, and to represent it in the UK.

World class semantic web/linked data services supplier based in Birmingham. The Talis Platform offers a low-barrier-to-entry method of publishing data as linked data, complete with query engine and more. My role is to help companies understand the value of linked data and to help model their existing data in an appropriate format, with a particular emphasis on open government data.

Developed and delivered training based on the output of the various W3C Mobile Web Initiative Working Groups, notably Best Practices. This provided the background to go on to develop a course on SVG, working with an outside trainer. Being on the W3C Team was a real privilege.

The Family Online Safety Institute is a membership-driven, non-profit organisation. Its membership is drawn from the online industry serving companies such as BT, Microsoft, Google, AT&T, Bluecoat, Verizon, Telefónica/O2 and more. I am used to dealing with such companies at a high level and know many of the people who represent them in the online safety and public policy arena. The organisation grew out of the ICRA labelling system designed in the mid 1990s to aid parental choice. It is this aspect that I worked to modernise, improve and make more relevant. My redundancy follows the decision by FOSI to prioritise public policy work and events organising.
