● Developed and presented technical material daily in engineering design, physics, and mathematics (arithmetic through the calculus sequence, including differential equations, statistics, and business math) in person and in electronic format● Made the college’s first engineering courses and outlined future steps to form more complete offerings for pre-engineering students. After this work began, there was a notable increase in enrolled students in precalculus, the calculus track, and university physics● Initiated and collaborated with members of the math department to condense the curriculum of developmental arithmetic content into one course instead of two. This increased student throughput in arithmetic by fifty percent while improving the success rate for those students who continued from arithmetic to beginning algebra● Acquired funding, trained, and supervised a supplemental instructor program for three years to provide quality academic support for hundreds of students pursuing STEM degrees● Creation and co-chair of the college’s first research-based committee where faculty explored best teaching practices on a topic selected every semester and reported our findings in a presentation at the end of the semester● Regular service in a great number of community events including; Science in the Park, FIRST Robotics, Science Night at CCC, Flagstaff Community STEM Celebration, organizing tours of the college and activities for 200+ 7th graders interested in STEM, community clean-up events, and job fairs● Mentored part-time faculty and advised math and pre-engineering students● Nominated by students for full-time faculty of the year 6 years running (2014-2019)
