Planit Africa is a start up company aimed at integrating the principals of investment management with sourcing of and implementing funding for Environmental projects in the Western Cape. Sources of funding include both private and public investment programs. Identified funding targets include projects within water (coastal and freshwater) and biodiversity areas which offer significant and sustainable benefit both to the environment and the local community through skills development, training and employment. Governance, oversight and accountability are core to the philosophy of Planit Africa.The aim is to bring to Environmental Solutions my expertise in investment management and operations and operating within an ever-changing regulatory framework. Historically I have had specific experience analysing and investing in Global Emerging Market hedge fund managers. During my tenure as a fund of hedge funds manager I gained in-depth experience in fund selection, due diligence and on-going monitoring. From 2011-2017 I was running the operations, product structuring, business development, and regulatory compliance at Tower Capital, a medium sized investment management business in South Africa.As an investment director at Key Asset Management (UK) I managed fund of hedge fund portfolios, including Key Europe, winner of the 2006 EuroHedge award, and was an integral member of the investment committee. Prior to Key I held a similar role at IO Investors, (London) as well as an equity trading and portfolio management position at Fairheads International Asset Managers in Cape Town. I left Key Asset Management in 2011 to return home to South Africa with my family. I have a Bachelor of Business Science (Hons), with majors in Economics, Statistics and Information Systems and have been a CFA Charter holder since 2001. I hold a JSE registered person qualification.
