Key Stage 4 Curriculum Development Co-OrdinatorNewman Rc Sep 2014 - Feb 2015Tasked with improving results in underachieving pupils across KS4. The main ideology behind my work was to utilise my understanding of the Vocational courses available, which were due to be phased out, to bring the methodology to the GCSE courses in order to improve results. Taking the core elements from the vocational courses was a nice challenge as it required the course to be broken down completely to understand why they were so successful. Then taking what I had learnt and applying this to the current GCSE courses. Once the bulk of the transfer was completed and resources were being created, I then began introducing the changes to the teachers whom it applied to, offering CPD sessions to give them an insight into the resources which would be available and also the new course structure. With continuous feedback from those delivering the course as well as pupil voice research, I was able to hone the key elements down further and begin improving the transition.

Coordinator Of Vocational Studies And New TechnologiesNewman Rc Sep 2013 - Sep 2014I took charge of the Vocational courses available and was set a target of improving the pass rate as well as the number of pupils achieving a “Merit” grade or higher. Both of which I managed to meet within the first year. With the year 11 cohort, I was focusing on increasing the number of pupils achieving a “Merit” grade, through changes to the way the course was delivered as well as overhauling and improving all of the resources available, often creating my own resources to suit the tasks, I managed to increase the number of Merits or higher from 0% to approx. 25%, as well as maintaining a 100% pass rate. With the year 10 pupils I was required to improve the pass rate from the year before, which was far below national average, and again another target I managed to achieve with the same changes as the Year 11 cohort, a complete change to the resources available saw results rise from 4% to 100% within the first 12 months.
