I’ve worked in the teaching profession for nearly 50 years—first as a middle and high school English teacher working with children in grades 6 through 12. During that time, I worked as a reading specialist and standardized test coordinator for the district and and chair of the English department in my high school, Martin Luther King. I retired in 2005 with 33 years of service during my work as a high school teacher, I worked part time, in the evenings, for Bryant and Stratton College. After retirement, I worked as an adjunct professor of education at Cuyahoga Community College, Norte Dane College, and South University for nearly 13 years. After leaving these positions, I worked for Varsity Tutors, LLC as a certified tutor of the Ohio Praxis teacher exams where I helped numerous graduate students pass their tests. This position lasted from 2016 to 2019. When the COVID pandemic sprung its ugly head, I finally rested a little from work, and the solace gave me pause to think how I could serve others one more time, so in February 2021, I started a writing and editing company called Creative Solutions and Editing, LLC to help my clients writing needs. I edit their works before submission, such as dissertations, and help with formatting and citing issues. I also create writing products such as flyers, letters, resumes, vision boards, etc. Along this journey, I’ve earned several degrees and certifications in my field. I know you must be thinking, “This is a lot of work for one person,” but people who know me understand that giving back and serving others is just what I do. It’s where I find my true happiness and calling.
