Paula Knight grew up in Cardiff, Wales, in a diverse and vibrant community that wove a tapestry of Welsh and global cultures together, all rooted in care and support for each other. This upbringing shaped Paula’s passion for community building and social impact and has been core to her leadership in both the public and private sector. As a new immigrant arriving in Halifax, Paula started her Canadian career as the Atlantic Canada Regional Marketing Manager for Tim Hortons. This early career experience provided an immersive introduction to all that is Canadian, including hockey, maple flavoured food, and the warmth of Canadians. Today Paula leads Atlantic Canada’s largest settlement services provider Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS).Paula’s career has spanned multiple sectors and she is a recognized thought leader in social innovation and strategy. Paula has led strategic initiatives in top tier organizations, including Microsoft, Cancer Care Ontario and Canada’s largest social housing provider Toronto Community Housing.Paula has been named one of the top 150 Canadian Women in Business and Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100. Her community contributions in Canada earned her both the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond and Golden Jubilee Medals. Her social impact work has been recognized through Microsoft’s highest recognition for leadership, the Chairman Award presented by Bill Gates for her leadership in developing the world’s first digital library system with the CNIB. In addition, Paula was recognized by Chief Bill Blair as an honorary member of the Toronto Police Force for her role in the development of the Child Exploitation Tracking System (CETS) launched in 26 law enforcement agencies across Canada and 8 countries around the world. Paula is passionate about mentoring women in leadership and is a founding member of the Judy Project and the Initiative for Women in Business at the Rotman School of Management, and a contributing author in The Collective Wisdom of High Performing Women.As the mom to two sons and caregiver to a teen with intellectual and physical disabilities, Paula is an ardent voice for inclusivity, community accessibility and caregiver support. In 2024 Paula was appointed to the Nova Scotia Autism Action Plan Community Advisory Committee to help develop Nova Scotia’s first action plan of its kind in the province.
