I spent two school years at an inner city charter school that was 100% African American or mixed, and where the majority of students came from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. I built strong relations with students and their parents, kept detailed records on student achievement and progress, and helped children make substantial gains in math.

I taught at a Montessori charter school, where I helped students from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds achieve scores of 90% on reading and math on Indiana state tests.
