Ever since I dipped a toe into QBASIC as a kid, I knew this software stuff was for meLike most in this field I’m in a constant cycle of leveling up and deepening my knowledge in the stack. And it seems there has never been a better time to be in this game than that last few years. With the migration from monolithic apps hosted on colocated servers to micro services living on ethereal containers constantly being recycled, the landscape is littered with learning opportunities and interesting problems to solve.I come from an IT OPS background so automation and CI/CD pipelines have been of particular interest to me. I am a python => ruby convert and have very much enjoyed the mentality around testing and the confidence it can bring to your workflow. I have also appreciated the ruby community’s willingness to always stay up to date regardless of the troubles and work that may result. This is in stark contrast to the years long struggle it took to move python from 2 to 3. A hurdle which in Internet years has taken a lifetime to surmount.
