I am the Governor’s liaison to the Departments of Education, Corrections, Labor and Regulation, the Housing Development Authority, and the state’s centralized IT resources. I focus on policy research, development, and implementation.

I was one of nine voting members to sit on the board that oversees the South Dakota public higher education system. The system serves approximately 36,000 students and has a budget exceeding $800 million.

I worked as a summer intern for the firm. I drafted contracts, interrogatories, answers to interrogatories, and pleadings. I attended depositions, jury trials, and hearings. I worked under several attorneys within the firm in a wide variety of areas, but specialized in commercial litigation.

I interned in Governor Dennis Daugaard's office under General Counsel, Jim Seward. I worked with pardons, extraditions, and general liability. I also worked under both the Chief of Staff and the Director of Policy and Communications, Dusty Johnson and Tony Venhuizen, on policy issues. I worked with Kim Olson, Policy Advisor to Dusty Johnson, on a wide variety of issues, but specifically in economic development. I spent much of my summer helping the office manage the flood that ravaged the Missouri River that summer and helped with data analysis surrounding the flows of water down the river.
