As a software engineer at DE Shaw, I am responsible for developing, implementing and testing complex software solutions that power the hedge fund's trading strategies and firm's proprietary trading tools monitoring system - SONAR . With a passion for innovation and a deep understanding of computer science, I strive to continuously improve the firm's software infrastructure, enabling it to remain at the forefront of the financial industry.My journey as a software engineer began at IBM as an intern, where I honed my skills in software development and programming. At IBM, I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including developing and deploying software solutions for enterprise clients. During my time at the company, I gained valuable experience in software design and architecture, as well as in collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams.Following my tenure at IBM, I had the opportunity to work as an intern at JP Morgan, where I collaborated with a non-governmental organization (NGO) to build a one-stop portal for accepting donations and organizing social campaigns and drives worldwide. This experience not only strengthened my technical skills but also gave me a deeper understanding of the potential of technology to make a positive impact on the world.Throughout my career, I have been driven by a passion for software engineering and a desire to continuously improve my skills and knowledge. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in 2021, which has given me a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals.After completing my internship at JP Morgan, I joined American Express, where I was responsible for developing software solutions for the company's financial services division. My work at American Express focused on implementing machine learning algorithms to optimize credit card fraud detection and prevention. Working on this project, I gained a deep understanding of the intersection of finance and technology, and the crucial role that software engineering plays in this field.At DE Shaw, I am excited to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry, and to collaborate on developing cutting-edge software solutions that drive the firm's success.
