In my Current role as a Technical Leader at Cisco Nexus Insights team (we call it day2ops), I develop software telemetry features for Nexus Insights application. This app offers a one stop solution to automate, monitor and analyse data centre fabrics. The app is based on a distributed micro services architecture based design.We build telemetry receivers in the application for collection and analysing data streamed from Cisco NX switches. Grpc, kafka can the mode of data transmission.We build microservices for Post-processing of the data received and write to data lake. We use elastic-search for the same.we write custom services to analyze the data and correlate significant events and analyse failure points.Have also worked on creating new micro-services based on python and golang for specific data processingTo summarise, work on the microservices side would include:1. build logic to stitch useful and critical data streamed from switches, write to elastic.2. write rules engine/knowledge-base/ to assimilate and correlate multiple data sets. Data is streamed in different formats json, protobuf (gpb-compact, gpb_kv)3. also run diagnostics if the data is anomalous and present the results to the user/operator4. Microservices built using GOlang, pythonBefore that, worked as a technical lead, Cisco ACI switch team, again a Nexus platform with APIC as the orchestrator. The DC fabric offering was called the CISCO ACI (orchestrated data centre fabric)I have worked on multiple components like Multicast, leaf and spine data forwarding, remote leaf architecture and design. Delivered some interesting features like Pod redundancy , wherein remote leaf switches ( light weight switches) can move across pods on failover scenarios.
