• Internship supporting Sound Transit tunnel construction.• Supervising construction of the U-District light rail station: Tasks include observing, recording, and testing the drilling, installation, and grouting of tendons and soil nails used to support temporary walls.• Testing and supervising the final lock-off load of the tendons after installation.• Documentation: start & finish times, angle, grout to borehole ratios, bonded and un-bonded lengths, number of strands, pressures and elongation, creation of graphs to portray test results clearly, etc.• Interacting with the contractor and his crew: confront crews when they do not follow the guidelines.• Writing and editing daily reports to inform supervisors of progress and issues

Learned about 3D mapping of the heart and what the technical assistant position entails, including how to operate the machine, how to edit what the doctor looks at, what the doctor needs to see, discussions on the best plan of attack, etc. Over ten hours watching operations and system contrals.
