I am interested in data analysis to solve human problems, and in using geographical information to empower these analyses. I have developed methods that use geospatial cues to improve data quality (more robust rates, better resolution, less noise, small area estimation), and led quantitative studies in urban, environmental and social domains. I am particularly interested in crime mapping and analysis, including urban and environmental crimes, but also analyzing other types of risk and vulnerability (e.g. extreme weather events), land-use/land-cover mapping, and urban geography.My skill set and experience includes:- Regression and other types of statistical analysis, including spatial and temporal.- Mapping and data visualization- Programming in R, Python and other languages- GIS tools (spatial libraries, ArcGIS, QGIS)- Web scraping and geocoding- Various datasets such as socioeconomic & demography (US Census, Brazil Census), land-use/land-cover (MapBiomas), ambient population estimates (Oakridge National Lab's LandScan, OpenCellID), infrastructure (OpenStreetMap), crime report data (various sources), heath data (DataSUS), etc.
