Oversee the research and development pipeline for microbial-based products to improve crop health and productivity using genomics technologies. Coordinate plant microbiome research team to harness beneficial microbiome from natural ecosystem with a focus on discovering new microbes and microbe-derived products that will improve crop yields and enhance sustainability. As the microbiome team leader, I coordinate the implementation of a biotechnology pipeline to discover new plant beneficial microorganism and manage private-public research initiatives in plant microbiome research.

Lead research scientist at the Sugarcane Microbiome Project (Saccharome), a joint research project between the University of Campinas (Unicamp) and Polytechnical University of Madrid (UPM) with funding from the Repsol and Repsol-Sinopec energy companies. I oversaw the implementation of molecular biology techniques, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) strategy and bioinformatics pipelines to investigate microbial communities associated with plants. Also, I engaged in implementing bioinformatic pipelines for analyzing microbial communities diversity, microbial genomes and genes associated with plant-microbe interaction.
