In my current role at Metacomet, I am actively engaged in the maintenance and support of our systems, utilizing a diverse set of technologies such as Ruby on Rails 5, 6, and 7, Bootstrap, React, PostgreSQL, Heroku, AWS, Rubocop, and Minitest.As a key member of the development team, my daily workflow is organized through Asana, where I manage and prioritize tasks. The IT department comprises two focused teams: Developers, responsible for system enhancements, and Q&A, which liaises with customers and internal departments. The Q&A team validates completed tasks and generates new assignments in Asana.Our collaborative environment thrives on daily meetings, where we discuss ongoing tasks, new features, reported bugs, and the creation of unique custom statement templates for new clients. Quarterly meetings are dedicated to aligning our efforts with company goals.Upon receiving a newly reported bug via Asana, my responsibilities include accessing the production environment to extract relevant information from logs, identifying the issue, replicating it in a local environment, creating automated tests, and implementing a fix.To stay vigilant on potential production issues, we utilize notification channels, necessitating the developer team's prompt response and access to the production environment for necessary actions. This proactive approach ensures a swift resolution to maintain the integrity of our systems.Our main challenge at the moment is to maintain system stability during the initial period of each month when the majority of customers generate reports and filter information from millions of sales and commission records involving thousands of licensors and dozens of sources.
