Met Intelligence

Managing a large team, I lead the coordination of intelligence to support London wide, fast time and dynamic operations and incidents including live public disorder events. I lead the review of emerging intelligence to successfully assess threat, harm and risk and ensure that all investigative opportunities are secured, assessed and disseminated.I guide on the application of legal authority to gather and utilise information and prepared complex and concise reports to inform decision making at the very highest levels. I manage organisational vulnerability, forming robust frameworks to deliver confidentiality, integrity and legal compliance. Supporting this high pressured environment, I ensure effective staffing levels, manage professional development and ensure staff are appropriately trained.

Specialist Crime Command - Homicide Unit

I held various specialist roles during this time:Major Incident Room Manager - I proactively contributed to investigations into serious and major crimes across London. Driving investigative strategic plans, I reviewed and assessed evidence and intelligence raised through the application of the Home Office Large Major Enquiry System (HOLMES). I managed significant risk, prioritising appropriately and ensuring information management, exhibit and disclosure elements were well maintained.Case Officer - I supervised live investigations, prioritising lines of enquiry, directing the execution of warrants and the arrests of suspects. I collated, prepared and submitted case papers to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) going on to give evidence at the Central Criminal Court.Homicide Assessment Team - Working on an on-call basis, I attended serious crimes and suspicious deaths. I ensured the scenes were well managed, forensic opportunities and all evidence captured. I provided a calm approach and clarity of direction in these highly charged environments.

Anti-Corruption Command

I was selected to join a specialist investigation that focused on complex and lengthy enquiries into potential historic police corruption. Working closely with a legal group of CPS lawyers, barristers and a QC and leading a team, I drove the application of HOLMES to capture and assess over 100,000 documents and exhibits from the 1980s and 1990s.I directed investigations, liberating new information through revisiting witnesses and examining document disclosures. Addressing some of the most serious historical crimes, I utilised new tactics and techniques and addressed organisational risk. I developed detailed reports which demonstrated complete transparency of process and collation of learning, providing written and verbal briefings for the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner.

Specialist Crime Command - Child Homicide

Serving as a major incident room manager, I led reviews of suspicious and unexplained deaths of children. I managed highly classified intelligence and evidence, provided operational overview and direction and worked with multi-agency panels to drive resilient reviews of deaths. I was also tasked with the review of intelligence around paedophile activity, conducting searches and executing warrants. I conducted complex investigations, gathering intelligence through extensive research and developing and implementing advanced strategies to identify and mitigate criminality.

Criminal Investigation Department

Leading a team in the investigation of diverse offending, I ensured the effective prioritisation of deadlines and objectives. Taking charge of serious investigations and leading crime reduction initiatives, I ensured the effective use of resources and developed strategies to enhance performance. Responding to major incidents, I guided on scene management to ensure evidence was secured, that witnesses, suspects and forensic opportunities were identified. I managed exceptional incidents whilst remaining cognisant of the need to uphold ‘business as usual’ policing. I promoted professional development to enhance team expertise and performance, building and maintaining morale to develop motivated teams who were committed to dealing with challenging environments, ensuring clarity of purpose, desired outcome and mutual respect.

Racial And Violent Crimes Task Force

I led investigations into serious and major crimes that were extremely sensitive and subject to particular external scrutiny. I contributed proactively to cases that held wide public importance and view with the need to account for and address all avenues of enquiry to meet vigorous scrutiny.During this time, I was tasked to establish and lead a team of officers in the identification of British victims following the 9/11 atrocities. I drew in specialist family liaison officers from across the UK and coordinated with partners from the Foreign Office and the US Federal Bureau of Investigations to repatriate victims. I worked closely with the coroner to ensure sufficient inquest information.

Operational Policing - London

I built a strong foundation of enquiry, observation and personal interaction, working in a response team tasked with the immediate management of critical incidents. Selected for detective duties, I investigated crime from initial planning and strategy setting to presenting evidence at court.

I joined the stockbroking arm of this merchant bank, undertaking roles from financial reviews, reconciliation of accounts to customer liaison and the implementation of computer systems.
