Programme Manager - Bamyield
Semenyih, Malaysia
BamYIELD is one of five research programmes at CFF, and it is, essentially a model international underutilised legume research and breeding programme using bambara groundnut as the exemplar species. We are starting with a semi well known underutilised legume - the bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea) as our exemplar species to develop methodologies which then be translated to other underutilised legumes such as winged bean (phoshocarpus tetraglobulus). We design and implement all projects using "research value chain" (RVC) approach in BamYIELD; all projects fit into one or more theme within the RVC, and requires participation from multiple partners and collaborators both internally and externally. BamYIELD is a multicomponent programme, with all projects running stimultaneously to achieve the outcome of higher yielding, more environmentally suited and resilient bambara groundnut leading to increased food security and income generation by subsistence and small-scale farmers, which we believe will positively impact global food and nutritional security As programme manager, I manage projects on nutrition and product development, maintain our information database, develop and run our websites while engaging with all stakeholders to ensure the outcome of BamYIELD is achieved. I also participate in all projects which come under the BAMYIELD umbrella at CFF, and constantly work with other CFF colleagues to achieve the objectives of our multi component projects. I also act as point of contact, and present our group's research to visitors - everyone from ministers, heads of CG centres, scientists, students and laymen.
