Created a Java-based web crawler and several parsers to extract specific data of interest as part of a larger effort to develop a new piece of software. Worked with a team of software engineers and quality assurance engineers to develop software enhancements and to resolve problems. Participated in all steps of the software life cycle, including training the end-users on the most efficient way to use the newly created software and working with IT to resolve network-related issues and come to a mutually acceptable solution. Subsequent efforts with the web crawler and parsers included expanding the parsers to increase the number of websites that were able to be handled.Created custom Android-based software for devices running CyanogenMod 7 and 9. In addition, maintained full responsibility for the procedure that took stock, off-the-shelf cell phones and installed a combination of ClockworkMod Recovery and a purpose-built CyanogenMod ROM that included the custom software for the customer. The technical challenges involved learning the Android build system, how CyanogenMod was incorporated into the process, and how to write software for the Android OS. Successfully managed and maintained the build process so that other team members could build the complex system with minimal involvement. Worked with one other person to create another custom Android-based solution for a customer. This software involved the use of CyanogenMod 9 and leverages the new Blackbird product, Mobile Shrike, to meet the requirements of a project. The challenges included creating and maintaining a build system to facilitate an easy method of compiling and installing the software, working with a new phone model as well as a tablet device (both of which required individual custom kernel modifications), and a fully functional cover application that gave the customer the ability to completely manage the running software and view all of the collected data.
