As a part of the Operational Strategy team, I am responsible for researching, developing, monitoring, assessing and managing the effective implementation of programs at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. Ensuring that programs are using evidence based/best practices, have trained staff for effective programming, demonstrate impact/outcomes, work with partners to maximize resources and enhance programming, meet all requirements of external funders, and operate in a manner that is consistent with the YMCA’s Strategic Plan.

Houston, Texas

The mission of the Alumni program is to create a community of active alumni through meaningful engagement and increased opportunities for revenue growth and job creation that will encourage alumni to become self-sustained. I collaborate with the program team at Houston Community College to plan, organize and coordinate local alumni activities as guided by the national strategic alumni plan. I serve as the main liaison to the small business owners in order to identify and respond to their needs and fulfill the mission of the overall alumni program. I work closely with the outreach team to leverage relationships with the Houston business community and often draw upon alumni as ambassadors, participants on panels and as referral sources for future cohorts.

San Francisco Bay Area

Transitioned to the Bay Area to plan, schedule and execute the start up of the 4th Genesys Works site ensuring the program was operating in accordance with National guidelines. Reviewed growth in the Bay Area to strategically plan for the next 3 years in terms of schools, corporate partners and locations. Built partnerships with 5 high schools and 3 districts to recruit economically disadvantaged students for the pilot summer training. Directed the Summer Training Institute which led to 70% of the students earning corporate internships at companies like McKesson, Salesforce.com and Kirkland & Ellis.

Played a key role in developing the path of Genesys Works from start up to national organization. Planned for and directed all aspects of the Summer Training Institute. Designed and supervised the Houston Independent School District Pipeline Program that provided career tract mentoring to 9th – 11th graders. Created and managed the Professional Coaching Partnership to engage teachers in the Summer Training Institute. Responsible for a 30% increase in recruitment of disengaged high school students year over year. Built and managed school and district level relationships as well as determined systemic impact.
