I was born in Ecuador and immigrated to the United States with my family when I was just five years old. We planted roots in the north side of Chicago, and I have never lived farther than a 45-minute car ride from the city. I’ll never forget seeing snow for the first time; I even asked my mom if all the white stuff was ice cream! There were so many challenges as we found our way in a new country, but I am so grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given thus far that would not have been possible without my mom’s courage and perseverance.I have three kids: Natalie (24), Bella (16), and Nick (11). Life is chaotic most days, but being a mom is my best job!I’m a nurse by trade but have been in a corporate setting for most of my career. Fortunately, I have continued utilizing my clinical knowledge in my professional roles. I have almost eight years of experience in post-market surveillance, regulatory compliance, and MDR reporting. I managed all medical device complaint-handling tasks for renal and interventional specialties business units, including reviewing, investigating, resolving, and trend reporting with failure investigation teams and research and development engineers.In my current role at Walgreens Boots Alliance, I provide clinical consultation support to business units across the organization, such as the marketing, merchandising, immunizations, and specialty pharmacy teams. For example, I review patient-facing material, FAQ sheets, patient brochures, and both internal and external communications, as well as complete product clinical reviews using evidence-based data to ensure medical soundness and protect our trusted brand. I also author brief articles on health topics for the Walgreens webpage dedicated to educating patients and consumers. Especially as we strive for equitable access to health products, services, and information, my role encompasses patient advocacy, ensuring that patient-facing material, products, services, and programs keep the health and safety of all our patients and consumers at the forefront.
