Built and maintained at&t’s fiber network. Worked with customers and the transport center to cut over working circuits and replace out dated or failing equipment. Spliced and tested fiber SONET rings and diverse paths into businesses. Installed, and repaired fiber into cell sites, VRADs, PFP’s and splitters in FTTP developments, central offices, CEVs, and customer premises. Used expensive precision equipment for installation and repair of fiber facilities (OTDRs, PWM tester, EXFO unit, and fusion splicers). Developed a deep understanding of the optical network and how it is used. Used supply chain to order supplies and equipment. Worked in an MSOC controlled environment.

Built and maintained the outside plant network. Constructed, tested, troubleshot, and repaired high capacity circuits. Removed load coils, spliced in repeaters. Installed/replaced VRADs, RTs, Xboxes, Positron cabinets. Condition pairs for Uverse and other high capacity circuits. Worked alone and with a team to complete large projects sometimes in emergency situations. Worked throughout the Midwest in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio. Worked with multiple groups including Design, Deg, Repair, TIMs to complete large tasks. Dealt with customers daily. Loaned to repair throughout my career to help maintain the repair load. Installed routers with static IP addresses in customers’ homes and offices. Installed software and hardware in customer PCs with a variety of operating systems. Installed HPNA networks in customers’ homes. Installed new lines when necessary. Responsible for keeping track of a large inventory of equipment and tools in the company vehicle. Troubleshot and repaired customers’ computers and lines, using equipment like the sunrise test set. Used systems including NIMs, GCAS, and WFA.
