My main motivation to complete college and get a good career is the sacrifices my parents made. They moved to the United States from Mexico to give me better opportunities in education and life. My mom recently graduated from A&M and is now teaching at a preschool. Watching her juggle family, work and college classes the past couple of years has taught me that I have it easy and if she could do it then I could do it. In my family, I have been fortunate enough to not need a job while going to school so I am fairly new to the job-seeking market of life. Even though I have no life experience I have learned valuable skills from volunteer experiences. I have learned leadership, as I was the Vice President of my DECA chapter back in highschool. As Vice President, I often talked in front of the chapter which taught me that public speaking was not difficult. I also learned adaptability because at one of our conferences my advisor told me to make sure that our voting delegates were in the right place at the right time and that involved me taking time out of my free time to track people down and direct them. I have been known to be quite creative as I think of myself as an artist and if inspiration hits, I can make art out of anything in front of me. I am also creative in a management way because I can solve problems in an out of the box style. Even if I am a leader, I work really well in a team, I flourish in teamwork. Right now my focus on life is finishing my degree at A&M Texarkana and then hopefully finding a full-time job in the Criminal Justice field.
