I serve as a neutral arbitrator or mediator to resolve workplace disputes. I also serve as a monitor of court-ordered and voluntary consent decree agreements in connection with discrimination class actions and related governmental investigations.

The Managing Director is principally responsible for and directs theGAO unit that designs and executes appropriate methodological approaches that help GAO promote an environment that is fair and unbiased and that values opportunity and inclusiveness. O&I monitors and recommends changes to GAO's human capital policies and practices to ensure that they are fair, unbiased and promote workplace excellence. O&I also identifies artificial barriers that deter GAO employees from realizing their full potential, and works with management officials to eliminate such barriers.The Managing Director oversees informal pre-complaint counseling and formal discrimination complaint proceedings, and provides leadership to GAO's early resolution and mediation program by assisting managers and employees to resolve workplace disputes and concerns without resorting to formal processes.

In July, 2003, the labor and employment law practice of the DSGay Law Group PLLC was merged into the New York and Washington, DC, offices of Coudert Brothers LLP. I was resident in the Washington office, but worked closely with the labor and employment practice group attorneys throughout the firm, including internationally. I continued to be called upon frequently as a speaker and trainer before business and trade organizations and professional associations on issues such as workforce diversity management, labor and employment compliance and related employment relations topics.

As a member of this national law firm specializing in representation of employers in labor and employment law matters, I continued to promote workforce diversity and equal employment opportunity by counseling clients on the adoption of best practices and productive workplace dispute resolution techniques. This work included extensive experience in providing workplace diversity training for managers and employees.

As a Commissioner I was nominated by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate. I chaired the EEOC's task force to study and report on “best” equal employment opportunity and diversity policies, practices and programs in the private sector and authored the resulting Best Practices Task Force Report.
