During my time as an admin support officer for the local authority, I was responsible for providing support to review officers. Review officers were responsible for providing support and reports for looked after children as well as families in needs. During this time my job role included things such as attending LAC (Looked After Child) reviews, taking minutes, providing admin and tech support as well as attending to emails and queries. I left this job due to the impact the nature of the work had on my well-being, although I learnt so many things during this time it has supported not only my confidence but my professional development too.

During my time as an apprentice, I was trained through various aspects of receptionist/office work in the NHS. I welcomed a diverse range of patients into the surgery, booking and altering appointments for them for various different reasons, taking into account people’s individual needs. I was able to communicate effectively with doctors, nurses and other care providers on the queries and needs of patients to ensure a smooth, effective environment. I was trained on the use of EMIS (electronic patient documents) and how to use this to provide high and effective levels of care to those in need. As this was an apprenticeship I also focused on the business aspect of NHS surgeries, such as how to recognise and respond to important emails, how to divert phone calls and how to use office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines and the filing system to ensure parents data was kept safe and GDPR laws followed. I finished this apprenticeship with a Level 2 diploma in business and administration as well as a level 2 in mathematics (Equivalent to A-C Grade)
