Robert Shepherd has been active in the Architecture and design community in the Bay Area for over three decades. Robert’s interest in Architecture ranges from design-driven solutions to complex systems integration. His expertise includes design-focused solutions, complex systems integration, and a wide range of project types and scales. Robert has played leadership roles in award-winning projects for renowned firms like Verse Design - Los Angeles, Mark Cavagnero Associates, and DE+ where he was The design and technical lead on civic and institutional projects.Beyond firm experience, Robert has garnered recognition for his independent design and innovative thinking. He is the recipient of multiple design and innovation awards, including two Progressive Architecture awards. Notably, Robert's proposal for "Food Zoning Policy" received an award from ‘Good’ magazine for its exploration of zoning codes and their impact on food access and the built environment. Additionally, his "Distributed Ecologies [Urban Zoo] Proposal " was published and exhibited widely.In addition to projects in the built environment, Robert has dedicated over two decades to teaching at the UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design and the California College of the Arts CCA[C], focusing on design and research-driven studios. Over the years Robert has lectured and taught seminars at other academic institutions in both design and technology and is a regular guest critic at design programs throughout the region.
