My role as a Pastor is one of executive leadership. It is my responsibility to cast a vision for the organization and ensure that the vision is caught and executed through the lives and hard work of volunteers. Leading a volunteer organization has formed a unique set of skills that are profitable for retention and building a healthy culture. My role as pastor is also personal. I am at the center of the network for people in this faith community. This exemplifies trustworthiness, reliability, and discretion.Change management is a large portion of what I lead in such a fluid organization. I lead many team leaders in the unifying work of the organization through regularly meeting and discussing goals and expectations for their respective teams. Sometimes I am the fireman. Sometimes I am the counselor. Sometimes I am the plumber (literally and figuratively)! I am always the leader and organizational representative to the community.

I started as the Family Pastor, organizing and restructuring ministry operations in the family-oriented ministry areas. After the senior pastor moved to another church, I was promoted to the senior pastor roll. I strategically led the church through the difficult transitions of COVID-19. I led the church in a significant media upgrade. I installed a customized PTZ Camera System with Audio upgrades and Online Streaming capabilities so that we could remain connected to the church members during the "shutdown" of 2020. This resulted in opportunities to stay connected with my people even when we were not able to be together. This further resulted in sharing the good news with people all over the world.

I oversaw the Education programs of the First Baptist Church for all ages. I effectively recruited teachers/leaders for various ministry areas. I was involved in the Tree of Life Learning Academy, a small private school for pre-k thru 8th-grade students. I coordinated and lead the church's youth and children's ministries resulting in the increase of attendance in both ministry areas by developing a healthy youth group and providing programming and curriculum for teens and children weekly. Shortly after the pastor resigned, I arose to the occasion and filled in the gaps. I learned many things in a short period about leadership. I also learned how to lead in difficult circumstances.

China

I taught English in a private school for two months. I developed and instituted an English reading program for the students of Agape Learning Academy. This internship was part of the cross cultural ministry practicum portion of my masters degree in Global Studies.

This was my first full-time ministry position where I served the Youth and Children of this beloved community. It was my responsibility to grow the ministries, teach the Gospel, counsel the youth, and assist the pastor in the church ministry. I was fortunate to work under a gracious, kind, compassionate pastor who poured his heart and soul into me. I was green, made mistakes, learned many things the hard way, and yet my pastor was gracious and led by example. My rookie mistake was leaving so soon.
