This company was a startup. I joined on the very first day it began to operate. We worked on crafting an SDK that can help mobile game developers to empower their products with the abilities of video recording and video streaming.Mostly, I worked on the Android side, at both the Java layer and native layer, and even interact with hidden, in-depth libraries. Other works were on the server-side, including analysing log files, operating the database, creating web pages. Among these, a significant one was having built up a demonstrative live video streaming service.Works done on Android side:• Improved compatibility with diverse Android devices, and reduced size of the SDK significantly.• The “live-casting” function, with which real-time game scenario could be directly streamed to a server on the internet without a PC as a proxy.• The ordinary “record” function. The game scenario between a “start-record” command and a “stop-record” command will be recorded into an mp4 file.• An innovative “record” function. Every time a “record” command is committed, contents of the last ten seconds (adjustable) will be recorded into an mp4 file.• The “edit” module, which includes basic functions such as “trim” and “conjoin”, as well as some complicated functions.• The function to share generated video records up to online communities such as “wechat moments”.Works done on server side:• A small system that stores information of all recognised Android devices, including the capabilities of video encoding/decoding, and many other aspects.• A demonstrative live video streaming service, which utilised nginx and some front-end libraries.
