I returned to 8tracks to lead and deliver key projects.For example, I completed in-house system for Event Tracking, Experiments, and Reporting.- Designed all models, events, terminology, key metrics, APIs- Implemented the event pipeline on Rack > Redis > Redshift (1 billion events / month)- Implemented reporting platform by developing ETL, KPIs, funnels, experiments- Built key automated reports that are valued and used by the team (Mode Analytics)This system gave us visibility and trust in our key metrics and user behaviors, and lets us run proper experiments to analyze product changes.

After 8+ years working on 8tracks in a leadership role, I moved to an advisory position. I helped primarily around strategy, product, and analytics.

I wore many hats at 8tracks, from being the first engineer to leading the Product & Eng teams. I never stopped coding the whole time (Ruby, SQL, Redis, Redshift, etc..)So what is 8tracks? 8tracks is the best place for people who care about music to make and discover refreshingly human playlists.The digital music space is notoriously difficult with thin revenues, high royalty costs, music industry tough to work with, a lot of competition. Still, we managed to grow to 8 million monthly uniques by keeping our product differentiated from the pack. 8tracks focuses on building a meaningful and creative experience around music curation and discovery instead of treating music as a commodity. Some accomplishments I am proud of:- Grew the engineering & product team from 1 (myself) to 12- Scaled the service to 8 million MAUs on web and mobile apps- Used machine learning to build recommender services to improve the discovery experience- Developed a custom system for browsing playlists by tags with ease-of-use, personalization and scale in mind (built on Redis zsets with cache warmup mechanisms and master-slave setup- Built a passionate community and respected brand

Joined as the first Engineering Manager.- Established proper 1-on-1s with the 5 engineers on the team. It directly contributed to increased satisfaction and growth of the Engineering team through coaching and constructive feedback- Lead a project to integrate Lifecycle push notifications to increase retention- Helped integrate Domino Data Lab to make Data Scientists autonomous and allow them to deploy their own production code- Set up realtime monitoring of the delivery system through dashboards using StatsD / Graphite / Grafana- Consolidated and Fixed buggy LookML in Looker- Helped move all data warehousing to Redshift in order to consolidate business dashboards in Looker- Built the "menu" endpoint to generate real-time availability of items on the menu for each customer based on the state of the system (position and inventory of each drivers among of parameters)- Built a tool to visualize and debug the worst deliveries on the system (Python & Folium)- Built system for evaluating the delivery ETA prediction system by: 1. visualizing its performance in real-time and 2. collecting a ton of data to help improve the model

Google acquired Aardvark, there I took the lead of the Frontend work on a "Q&A" kind of product, which was meant to be part of Google+ but never got released to the public.

In my first month, I was one of the key engineers who worked on the relaunch of vark.com, a Ruby on Rails app written with JSON API, following all conventions, and fully tested.After 6 months, we were acquired by Google.

Joined Affinity 4 months after the company started and helped build its first app, PoliceLink. In a month, I turned it into Alchemy, a highly customizable social networking platform with all features imaginable (CMS, Friends, Messaging, Photos, Videos, Quizzes, Forums, Reviews, etc...). It allowed us to turn around new sites quickly (FireLink, GovCentral, ArtBistro, Chefsblade and 10 others) and get acquired by Monster for $61M. We also successfully took over 2 large sites: Tickle and Fastweb by adding their features to Alchemy. I accomplished this while leading 2 other developers.

Joined as second employee in the Technology team and immediately took over all Operations responsibilities: Windows server cluster administration, Networking, Storage, Support. I significantly stabilized the cluster and increased its size.After a few months, I also started to develop INgrooves' core Content Management application (ASP.NET); then due to my ability to bridge between users and developers, I became the development coordinator, managing 3 newly hired engineers.Lastly, I internally evangelized Ruby on Rails and open standards. It lead me to fully build an e-commerce type music licensing website, zoomlicense.com, while developing my agile web development skills.

As Marketing Analyst, worked directly with executive Management team by providing dozens of reports mined from Live365’s extensive Oracle database, setting up dynamic reports, and analyzing the possible impact of new projects on business line revenues. This position required a thorough understanding of Live365’s business and its industry, continuous communication with the Live365 business team to address its needs accurately, a very analytical mind, and the highest concern for quality. As Database Engineer, created a complete reporting solution on the intranet used by accounting, advertisement, business, engineering… Optimized recurring (daily. weekly, monthly) data crunching scripts. Used tools and languages including SQL, Perl, Unix, Web developing, TOAD and Informatica Power Analyzer.
