The Village of Buffalo Grove Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has been recognized in the Chicago metro area for its excellence in communication management. I function as coordinator of EMA, actively working with other professional volunteers. On a regional level, as a member of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) Mobile Field Force, Buffalo Grove provided communication assistance to the City of Chicago during President Obama’s first election victory speech in Grant Park. Buffalo Grove was also the backup Emergency Operations Center for the recent G8 summit in Chicago. Buffalo Grove has provided support for several fires, train derailments and chemical releases. As the coordinator and active member of the EMA team I have taken many of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), National Incident Management System (NIMS) classes and participate annually in several live and table top disaster exercises.
