During my time with Liberty Mutual, I drafted a variety of pleadings, including motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and motions to strike; researched and wrote memorandum on key issues of law from local court rules to statutes of limitation, issues of vicarious liability, and property questions; and prepared case files for trial including writing motions in limine, compiling exhibits for trial, and discussing further strategy.

Assisted with drafts of pleadings for large, corporate clients including answers, demurrers, and motions to strike as well as propounding and responding to discovery requests and conducted national research survey regarding a novel issue of attorney’s fees that has not been ruled on by California courts.

I created, revised, personalized, and sent out contracts to be signed by book authors and reference material contributors for many of SAGE’s top-selling titles, including several encyclopedias. This also included collaborating with SAGE Book Editors and Editorial Assistants to ensure all contracts were issued correctly as well as corresponding with authors and contributors to answer questions and facilitate speedy return of the contracts. I was also responsible for maintaining a database of dates and other information to help the department keep track of which contracts were still outstanding.

I worked closely with the rest of the SAGE Open team to conduct daily research on the spectrum of social science topics to find experts who could serve as appropriate Article Editors for specific articles for the journal. Once the peer review process had begun, I communicated extensively with authors, Article Editors, and reviewers via email and phone to resolve any issues and answer all questions that arose throughout the peer review process. I also frequently organized article and Editor data in Excel spreadsheets to track the progress of the articles I was responsible for.
