Profile bio

About Robert Schoon

With over 30 years of experience in high technology product and aerospace hardware development, I am a seasoned and versatile mechanical engineer who can handle complex and challenging projects. I have a master's degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on analytical mechanics, and an MBA with a technical management emphasis. I also have a certification in project management (expired), which reflects my skills in leading and collaborating with cross-functional and global teams. Most recently, I am working as a principal mechanical engineer at CesiumAstro Defense & Aerospce, a leading provider of RF SATCOM and other telecom solutions. Here, I apply my expertise in thermal, shock, and vibration analysis using sophisticated modeling tools, such as Flotherm, ANSYS, Femap, etc. I also use various design and development software (SolidWorks) to create and refine packaging for spacecraft electronics. At CesiumAstro, and previously, I am involved in or manage internal research and development, and was the analytical resource for troubleshooting and solving problems in a broad portfolio of avionics and aerospace products. I am proud to say that some of the electronics on the Hubble Space Telescope have my signature on the drawings, and that I was a team member on the development of the first optical disk.I am passionate about staying close to the technical trenches and managing small, focused development projects that can leverage my technical and project leadership experience. I am comfortable as an individual contributor or a team player, and I am always eager to learn new skills and technologies. My goal is to find a position that allows me to use my years of experience and electro-mechanical engineering knowledge and skills to create innovative and impactful solutions.

Listed skills include Engineering Management, Finite Element Analysis, Engineering, Pro Engineer, and 33 others.
