I am an experienced Software Developer and Systems Analyst with ten years’ experience in the City of London (eight of which as contractor/consultant), seeking challenging and fulfilling employment after both creative and technical arts-based sabbaticals as well as working at a small Web-oriented company in Hastings, East Sussex.I am a toolsmith at heart: one should always use the right tool for the job. Sometimes, that precise tool may not exist – if so, it may be a good plan to bring it into existence specifically for that purpose. Re-expressing current ideas in a different way for a different purpose often proves enlightening.A long-time user of Linux, using C/C++/Java and Perl/Python/shell scripting, I enjoy using creative approaches to solving challenging technical problems, ensuring those solutions are aimed both at the systems that execute them, as well as the people who interact with them and have to support them.I believe that human-thinking-hours are highly valuable in the grand scheme of things and shouldn’t be wasted in drudgery – particularly since we went to the trouble to invent computers to do that for us. I’m also not afraid to get my hands dirty: I’m a programmer who’s adept with a soldering iron; an actor who’s happy using a power drill; and a drummer who’s not afraid to try playing the bass guitar.
