Worked on many projects. The latest included designing and implementing the customer help desk for North America. It is an n-Tier system with encrypted communications to many backends with different databases and different operating systems. Manpower requirements were nearly cut in half.Based on the results of that project we designed and built a customer help desk system for Europe. It has 12 countries in 8 languages and each country has its own mainframe system and there are common systems as well. Based on the results of that we have been upgrading the North American system with what we learned in building the European system and adding functionality required for new business.

Assists the International Vice President in managing the first aid activities of 19 regional groups, setting policy, creating handbooks, and various administrative tasks.This is a non-profit company dedicated to the recreation of pre-1600 sciences, crafts, and warfare. It has members in many parts of the world with the largest concentration in the United Statess.

Managed 8 direct reports and, through them, approximately 85 first aid providers in the organization's region covering Texas and Oklahoma. Set policy, edit and approve handbooks, recruit and train providers, report in both directions, work with other regional officers, investigate problems, and keep current on issues in first aid.

Clarify consulting for Oxford's clients

This was several engagements with SSBA then MBNA (who bought SSBA). These included writing translators to conver the binary word processing formats to binary printer merge files so content providers could work on word processors and massive print runs could be done in native mode. I also built a computer expenses accounting system for their use, converters from SGML to PLI, and more.

This was actually for Repbulic Bank, First Republic Bank, NCNB, and then Bank of America as banks were merged and acquire.Worked on many systems from the first email implementations to one of the first systems to provide real-time key factor displays with drill down for the CEO. One system was a cash management system for the bank's largest customers which provided nearly real-time cash management information to those clients. That project got Software Innovation the bank's Peak Performance award - the first time it was awarded to an external firm.

Company was Hogan Associates when I worked for it. I was one of three people who designed the framework that allowed the programmers to work with virtually any database and any online system without any accomodations in their coding. We essentially built a virtual operating system that we could host on customer machines. We used many advanced techniques to get very high performance and shield the application programmers from the true environment. The concept of business objects and virtualization was very cutting edge in 1978. In one instance, through use of caching, advanced search techniques, and assembly language routines, I cut the overnight processing of a major bank from 6 hours to 2 hours to fit their windows..
