About Richard Durham
Rich leverages his experience across learning and games to design, consult on, and produce playful experiences, products, and events for education, social good, and funsies. Graduating with a Bachelor in Secondary Science Education, and later a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction. A decade of classroom teaching, a decade of learning design, and 3 years in faculty leadership positions have not yet jaded Rich against higher education. Rich is the organiser of the Game Artisans of NZ - a national collective of tabletop game designers, a regular guest lecturer on playful learning at the University of Auckland, and facilitator on gameful learning design for NZATD, HERDSA, the Ministry of Primary Industries, and game conferences such as NZGDC, GenCon, PlaybyPlay, among others. He currently leads teaching and learning strategy in the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries at the University of Auckland and is Head of Games at Wondertree Studios, where he creates transformational and persuasive games for social good organisations, museums, events, and schools.
