From October, 2014, until December 1, 2015, I produced and solo-anchored the weekend edition of KBOI 2News. I joined KBOI in December, 2012, when I became the co-anchor of "KBOI 2News This Morning," a 2-hour news block that airs daily from 5-7 a.m. As the producer and reporter for a weekly feature called "Rick's Idaho," I dug deep to bring long-form stories to the evening newscasts. As managing editor, I shepherded reporter scripts through various stages of production, offering help with tighter writing and better organization. As an anchor, I also pushed for clarity in presentation. For the 11PM newscast, I was both line producer and solo anchor. In November, 2011, I doubled the ratings and share at 11.

I was an on-call field producer for MSNBC. When then-governor Eliot Spitzer resigned from office, I was pressed into service to help coordinate coverage for both "The Today Show" and for frequent updates on MSNBC. Producers for both "The Today Show" and MSNBC complimented me on my attention to detail and ability to deliver talent in a timely manner for frequent updates.

I was hired as a Charter Member of the CN9 news team in the summer of 2002. My chief responsibility was to anchor from 11 in the morning until about 5:30 in the evening. CN9 (now Spectrum News) is a 24-hour cable news outlet owned and operated by Time Warner Cable. WVII had no producers, so I wore many hats in my years there, including a period where I functioned as the interim news director. My chief responsibility was to report for the early newscasts, sometimes live, and co-anchor and produce the 11 p.m. newscasts. My proudest achievement at KSBY was to crew for a week aboard the Australian flagship, HM Bark Endeavour. My resulting 3-part series about the adventure won the station's first-ever Emmy for Best Writing.

I was initially hired to co-anchor the morning newscast, but eventually I was asked to also co-anchor the 4:30 p.m. show, necessitating a split schedule. It was a rugged schedule but one I enjoyed. Late in my tenure, I was moved to weekends to accommodate the longtime sports director who wanted to be a news anchor. I also produced several well-received documentaries, including one on Yellowstone in the winter and one profiling the rival Canadian cities of Calgary and Edmonton.

For a brief period, I worked as a per diem reporter for then-independent KCAL-TV, now part of the CBS Broadcast group.

I was primary anchor and a special projects producer/reporter. During my tenure at KXLY, I received numerous Emmy awards (three for "In the Land of Tall Prayers: Life Along the Lewis & Clark Trail"). Documentary director Ken Burns saw my Lewis & Clark project and praised it highly.

I anchored the 5:30 newscast, reported for the 11 p.m. newscast (often as lead reporter) and wrote and produced two well-received, 1-hour documentaries ("Susquehanna: The Hidden River," "Waterland: Last Hymn for a Lonely Choir")

I co-hosted the show and also produced and wrote long-form story segments about interesting people and places in Connecticut and southern New England.
