About Richard Lyman

🎼From a lifelong passion for music education to an unexpected passion for coding, my journey has been anything but predictable. When COVID-19 turned the world on its head, I took a hard look at my values and decided to explore new career options. A chance encounter with a former music colleague who is now a software engineer inspired me to try my hand at coding. I loved it and haven't looked back.💨Fast forward to today. I have been working as a quality assurance engineer at Reach Reporting for 2 years. I have full ownership of all QA processes and have planned and executed the manual and automated testing on 44 major code changes and have documented more than 1000 bugs. I've written and continue to maintain a Cypress test suite with 50+ end-to-end tests that run 3-4 times daily, as well as other scripts in Python and Cypress to verify data and UI. On the less technical side of things, I have written extensive feature documentation and implemented data tracking and test plan systems to improve our QA processes.🎺 Beyond my technical skills, I bring a detail-oriented approach honed from my years as a musician, that earned me full-tuition music scholarships throughout my college career. I also bring a passion for solving complex problems honed in the process of engaging, instructing, and tracking progress for 600 students in 21 different classes.
