Responsible for coatings research. Two direct reports.• Developed novel balancing and fastening technology and implemented a new family of lay-flat sheet flooring products (AirStep) and novel floating floor products. (Connections and Carefree).• Developed new technology for floor coverings in the areas of plasticized PVC wear layers and foams, non-PVC binder systems including the use of recycled polymers, electroluminescent lighting, 3D prototyping, and digital printing.• Managed a portfolio of cost savings and plant support projects by implementing more cost-effective raw materials and UV coatings.

Responsible for managing a portfolio of R&D projects. One direct report.• Co-invented and commercialized several novel, highly wear resistant UV coatings based on texture producing particles (Nylon).• Developed new technologies for flooring including UV curable fluoropolymers, silver/glass antimicrobials, differential gloss UV coatings, and heat activated coating texture (micro-balloons).

Responsible for R&D projects in the areas of hot-melt adhesives and gelling agents. One direct report.• Co-invented a novel set of polyamide gelling materials based on dimer acid (became Arizona Chemical’s UniClear™ line).• These gelling agents were successfully commercialized in products such as clear candles (e.g., Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle) and cosmetics.
