Hello!My name is Riley Hull and I currently live in rural Japan where I work as an English teacher. Before moving, I studied Political Science, Linguistics, and Japanese at the University of California: Santa Barbara. My major specializations were Political Philosophy and Language Technology. After completing two years on the JET Program I will return to the US to Philadelphia, where I will enter the UPenn Carey School of Law. While there I hope to focus on international technology and regulation, as well as pursue the Masters in International Studies through the dual degree program with the Wharton School of Business.In my Political Science major, I studied a broad range of political philosophy including classical authors such as Plato and more recent figures such as G.F.W. Hegel and Murray Bookchin, as well as taking courses on Japan and East Asian relations. My emphasis in language technology gave me the opportunity to formally study programming in a R and Python, with courses on data analytics and machine learning, in addition to standard Linguistics fields such as socio-cultural linguistics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, and historical linguistics. Completing the Japanese minor consisted of language, literature, and history classes, giving me the foundations for future study in East Asia.Thank you for looking at my page!
