Project: National Lake and River Monitoring Programme• Worked with the Ecological Monitoring and Assessment team at the Office of Evidence and Assessment (OEA) for lab processing of national littoral samples. • Sorted, identified, and preserved distinct groups of benthic macroinvertebrates from 70 environmental samples of Irish lakes and rivers for data on broader range of physio-chemical and biological parameters to monitor the ecological health of Irish freshwater resources. • Developed an excel based littoral tracker for database management of sampling and QC results. • Communicated actionable insights on mechanisms of water quality and ecological health degradation to the concerned stakeholders gathered using the integrated response of the faunal bioindicator assemblages. • Mentored transition year students completing their work experience by helping them with identification of macroinvertebrates for understanding of freshwater ecology for its biological implications and sustainable use.
