The areas include: Curriculum and Instruction, Federal Programs, Professional Learning, Guidance and Assessment, Human Resources, Career Technical Education, Athletics and Physical Education, Fine Arts, Health Services, Library Media Services, Student Services, Compliance and Minority Affairs, Special Education, Gifted Education, Technology Integration• Provide fiscal leadership for budgets totaling over $45 million• Provides direct supervision and leadership for 13 program area directors and 37 supervisors • Coordinates proven, research-based methods and strategies for curricular reform for the 56 schools in the district• Promotes research and development work to identify new and innovative programs and practices and then seeks and writes proposals for external funding for those innovations• Oversees the Jefferson County School Foundation program• Represents the school system at civic functions, state department meetings, legislative events, governmental boards, public events, etc.

•Supervise the distance learning staff •Plan and administer the $10M distance learning budget including all itineraries, travel claims, proposals, contracts, and purchase orders•Organize the ACCESS Advisory Committee•Serve as point of contact for governor’s office, legislators, program directors of other agencies•Develop proposals, brochures, forms, reports, guidelines, etc. •Write grants to promote and fund distance learning•Provide service and leadership to local school systems and other organizations in the area of technology and distance learning via workshops, training, and public events•Serve as point of contact for local school systems and provide course design/technical assistance and research to school systems in the areas of video and online distance learning and provide development and management of web portal•Conduct, compile and report comprehensive needs assessments and reports on other distance learning initiatives for k-12 distance learning
